FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Wasn’t it only recently that young Irishman Rory McIlroy got into “a spot of bother” across the pond when he referred to the Ryder Cup as a mere “exhibition?” Apparently, the youngster has been receiving a little coaching on that little, um, misstep. Asked Sunday at Bethpage to characterize what has been a raucous New York crowd, he responded, “It was incredible. It was like a Ryder Cup out there.”
Way to make a comeback, kid.
