Kathy Teichert resigned as women’s coach at Michigan Friday after 16 seasons with the Wolverines.
Teichert led Michigan to 24 team titles and five trips to the NCAA regionals, including a berth in the NCAA Championship in 2002. The Wolverines finished the 2008-09 season No. 54 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
“I’ve been privileged and honored to have been at the University of Michigan for the last 16 years,” said Teichert. “In that time, I have coached many terrific student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom, on the golf course and in life. I wish the program every success in the future.”
Michigan posted seven top-5 finishes at the Big Ten Conference Championships during Teichert’s tenure, including a program-best runner-up finish in ’05. She was named the co-Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1996.
This past season, Michigan finished seventh at the Big Ten Championship and 17th at the NCAA Central Regional.
