Georgia Tech head men’s coach Bruce Heppler has signed a new five-year contract, which will begin when his current deal expires in June 2010, director of athletics Dan Radakovich announced Tuesday.
Heppler, who won his fifth ACC Coach of the Year award Monday, is now under contract with Georgia Tech through June 2015.
Heppler is in his 14th year leading Georgia Tech’s golf program. He recently led the team to its third ACC Championship in the past four years and its 12th NCAA championship bid under his watch.
“It’s nice to be appreciated here by the administration and the boosters who support our program,” said Heppler. “I’m happy they like what we’re doing here. My wife and I are very grateful for the security we have, and we’ve always loved being at Georgia Tech. We look forward to having a great program here for years to come.”
Georgia Tech has won six ACC titles in 14 years under Heppler and been runner-up at the NCAA Championship three times. Heppler’s players have earned All-America recognition 33 times, and four have earned national player of the year honors. Currently, seven of his players are competing on the PGA Tour.
