Campbell is heading back to the Big South Conference, the university announced Thursday.

The school will be a full member of the league beginning July 1, 2011 and will be eligible to compete for all Big South championship immediately upon entry. The Camels will continue to compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference for the next two seasons.

Campbell was a charter member of the Big South Conference in 1983 until its departure in 1994.

The women’s golf program was the first in Big South history to advance to the NCAA Regionals in 1994, and did so as an at-large selection. This year, the Camels finished second behind Stetson at the A-Sun Championship. The men’s team, meanwhile, won the A-Sun title and is competeing May 14-16 at the NCAA Southeast Regional as a No. 13 seed.
