Rib injury forces Casey to pull out of Dubai
LONDON – Paul Casey has pulled out of next week’s season-ending Dubai World Championship with a rib injury and will miss out on finishing at the top of the European Tour money list.
Casey, 32, of England, had only just returned to action after being sidelined for three months with an injury sustained while practicing for the British Open in July. Casey was fifth in the Race to Dubai. He returned for World Match Play Championship in Spain two weeks ago but then withdrew early in the final round of last week’s HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China.
His manager, Guy Kinnings, said Saturday that the muscle behind the rib had become inflamed again.
