Tour Championship should be more elite

RICHMOND, Texas – This feels like the never-ending tournament. Perhaps the LPGA has gotten the message that 120 players do not belong in a Tour Championship field.
“Your tour championship should be an honor,” Angela Stanford said.
Indeed, not a last-ditch effort to keep your tour card.
Cristie Kerr agrees and is disappointed she won’t get 72 holes to make her Player of the Year charge. Kerr needs to win this week to have a chance. She bogeyed the last hole Sunday to finish 3 under for two rounds.
“If I have a career round tomorrow, maybe we can see something special,” Kerr said. “It’s a lot to ask for one round.”
Kerr’s career-low round, by the way, is 61. She trails Kristy McPherson by five strokes.
If she can’t get it done in three, Kerr jokingly proposed having a three-way playoff for Player of the Year on Tuesday between Kerr, Jiyai Shin and Lorena Ochoa.
What’s one more day?
