Golfer Mike Weir answers questions from the media prior to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

BRIGHTS GROVE, Ontario – Mike Weir was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Huron Oaks, the course where the left-hander fell in love with the game.

“It’s special to do it here,” said Weir, the 2003 Masters champion. “I see a lot of family and friends. Obviously, it's kind of where I grew up and where it all began for me. I feel good. It’s a great night.”

The 39-year-old Weir has eight PGA Tour victories, matching George Knudson for the most by a Canadian.

Weir's Hall of Fame plaque was unveiled Saturday night and features a sketch along with a brief biography. It will soon make a permanent home alongside other honored members at the Hall of Fame on Glen Abbey's grounds in Oakville. An exhibit featuring Weir's memorabilia has been on display at Glen Abbey since the Canadian Open in July.
