Kevin Streelman can now fit in your pocket
When he faced a downhill lie in a little bit of rough at the Deutsche Bank Championship several weeks ago, Kevin Streelman choked down on the hybrid and delivered a splendid shot.
Even the walking official nodded his approval toward Streelman’s caddie, Michael Collins, who didn’t miss his opening.
“There’s an app for that,” Collins said, and Streelman couldn’t help but laugh.
That’s because there is, indeed, an app for how to hit those golf shots that give you the most trouble. Streelman ought to know, too; he is part of the team that came up with the application for iPhones.
“It’s pretty cool and it was a lot of fun to be involved with,” Streelman said of a software application that was designed by a neighbor in Arizona, Larry Slivka.
Streelman has the app loaded onto his iPhone and demonstrated the crisp graphics and the informative text that goes with it.
“Mostly, we show amateurs how to set up over particular shots,” Streelman said. “I think that’s the basic problem many of them have, how to mentally approach certain shots.”
Streelman’s wife, Courtney, designed the website – ssquaredgolf.com – where the app can be seen and from where it be downloaded. It is called “Golf Like a PGA Tour Pro With Kevin Streelman,” and is now available.
“Small enough to go to the course, in-depth enough to use as a reference,” is how the website advertises the Streelman/Slivka collaboration.
