Stevie doesn’t know Willie?

SAN FRANCISCO – Given the locale, it was only fitting that participants in the Presidents Cup would show support for an area sports team. Given that one of the American caddies, Hunter Mahan's looper John Wood, is from Sacramento and a huge Giants fan, it made sense to go with Will Clark's No. 22.

So there were the bagmen for the American players, decked out in Giants attire. Joe LaCava, captain Fred Couples’ trusted caddie, wore No. 36, “for Gaylord Perry,” while Don Cooper, Lucas Glover’s caddie, got Juan Marichal, No. 27.

And who got No. 24 for arguably the greatest center fielder of them all? Tiger Woods’ man, Steve Williams.

Only thing is, Williams conceded he had never heard of Willie Mays. Say, Hey? What’s with that?

“Hey, baseball’s not his thing,” Glover said, and in this case, you’d have to give Williams a pass. He is, after all, from New Zealand where baseball is but a whisper.
