Q-School: Anderson wins narrowly at San Juan Oaks
Stuart Anderson fired a 13-under 275 in the first stage of PGA Tour qualifying school at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif., Friday to win by one shot. He closed in 67-67 for the victory.
Anderson, of Canada, won the Desjardins Montreal Open on the Canaidan Tour in August. It was the third Canadian Tour win of his career.
Richard Lee, who qualified for the 2007 U.S. Open at the age of 16, was at 6-under 282 and tied for 11th.
Kevin Chappell, who won the 2008 NCAA Championship as a senior at UCLA, fired a final-round 65 to secure his spot in the second stage of qualifying. Chappell tied for 13th at 5-under 283.
Former Stanford star Joel Kribel, also the 2005 U.S. Amateur runner-up, also finished T-13.
