Q-School: Guetz wins in Santee, Woltman also advances
Brian Guetz won first-stage PGA Tour qualifying school at Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee, Calif., Friday, finishing at 7-under 281.
Guetz had two top-10 finishes in Gateway Tour events in 2009.
Dan Woltman also advanced to the second stage with a 2-under 286 that left him tied for fourth. Woltman, a recent Wisconsin graduate, won the Northeast Amateur over the summer and set a tournament record there with his 11-under 265 total.
Sam Cyr, who won his second NAIA Championship title last spring while at Point Loma Nazarene University, barely advanced to the second stage, tying for 19th at 2-over 290.
