Ochoa, Rawson making noise in Canada

Can’t decide which is more surprising: The fact that Anna Rawson leads the CN Canadian Open with an opening 64, or that Lorena Ochoa is in second place with 66.

That’s a bit of an overstatement. Ochoa is still the No. 1 player in the world, though she hasn’t played like it lately. Prior to Thursday’s round, Ochoa had not broken 70 since July 25. She hasn’t posted a top 10 since July 5, when she tied for eighth at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.

It used to feel automatic for Ochoa go low. Now, it’s almost startling.

Rawson meanwhile, gets an amazing amount of ink for someone who has made $41,186 this season. Not all of it is good press, mind you. (Re: unfortunate radio remarks earlier this year.)

Nice to see her clubs do the talking.

Now, if golf fans outside of Canada could actually watch a runway model shoot 64 on TV, the LPGA would be onto something.
