Faxon outdoes himself at Deutsche Bank

NORTON, Mass. – In every way, Brad Faxon would have preferred to have been between the ropes at the Deutsche Bank Championship. But that didn’t stop him from being the MVP at TPC Boston this week.
“He proved once again how incredible he is,” Seth Waugh, the CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas, said. “He did everything we asked – and more.”
Since this is virtually a hometown tour stop (Faxon hails from Barrington, R.I., some 40 miles south of TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.), Faxon takes the Deutsche Bank Championship seriously. He took part in a Monday pro-am that raised big money for the Stop & Shop Family Foundation, then another pro-am Tuesday with Red Sox legends.
(His team, which featured former Red Sox slugger Jim Rice, did win, but there weren’t any FedEx Cup points available.)
Faxon then served as emcee for the DBC pro-am draw party, and he was available for more than an hour to sign autographs during Saturday’s second round.
Now, it’s at this point when we would like to ask – make that shout – “Are you listening, young pros?” But, of course, with Faxon there was more. He helped Waugh host a party Saturday night at the TPC Boston clubhouse and on Sunday he was in the NBC booth talking about the tournament and the course changes that he had a hand in.
Gets a guy exhausted just thinking of all that work, but the truth is, it is Faxon to the core.
