The 2008 Nationwide “25”

How’s the Class of 2008 grads from the Nationwide Tour doing in the big leagues this season? As is usually the case, it’s a mixed bag for the “25,” as they are affectionately called.

Bryce Molder leads the way in earnings (60th), one of three grads over the million-dollar mark. He is joined by Marc Leishman as the only grads still remaining in the FedEx Cup playoffs. And 17 of the 25 have already surpassed their 2008 season earnings.

But no one has made a major breakthrough. Zero wins. Ricky Barnes held the 36-hole lead at the U.S. Open, Matt Bettencourt shared the 54-hole lead of The Memorial, but three T-2s so far is the best results of the bunch (Barnes at the U.S. Open, Molder at the St. Jude Classic, and Greg Chalmers at the Buick Open).

Others still have their work cut out during the Fall Series to retain their PGA Tour card. Currently, only 10 of the 25 are inside the Tour’s top125. Expect some Q-School checks to be in the mail and a nail-biting race to the finish of the season for the “25.”

Check out the table below to compare their success on the Nationwide Tour in 2008 vs the PGA Tour in 2009 (to date).
