Merion pro shop full of goodies
ARDMORE, Penn. — Pretty snazzy pro shop here at storied Merion Golf Club, site of this weekend’s Walker Cup. In addition to being able to buy the usual lineup of shirts, sweatshirts, flags, hats and the like – some with the Merion club logo, some with the Walker Cup insignia – there are a few not-so-run-of-the-mill items that definitely caught the eye.
I couldn’t resist purchasing the $25 mini-replica Merion flagstick (with the famed wicker basket on top), which will look good on the corner of the office desk, but summoned all my inner shopper’s strength to resist plunking down $49 for the Merion club cufflinks.
Maybe the wife will get them for me this Christmas. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
