Seawell splits his time for Walker week
ARDMORE, Pa. – I was a little surprised – well, maybe not really – to see Alabama men’s coach Jay Seawell out and about at Merion Golf Club today. He was following the U.S. team’s practice round, in particular Bud Cauley, his All-American sophomore.
The odd thing about Seawell’s presence is that his Crimson Tide team is at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Mount, Ga., today, playing a practice round in preparation for their season-opening tournament at the Carpet Capital Classic. The event starts tomorrow and ends Sunday.
Seawell plans to watch Cauley and his teammates in their Friday practice round and be on hand for the opening ceremonies later in the day. Once those end, he heads straight to the Carpet Capital.
“I’ll miss our practice round and first round of the tournament, but will be there for the last two rounds,” Seawell said. “I just feel I had to be here (Merion) at least for a few days. With Bud being a part of it, this is too important to miss. I know we’ll all be watching (TV) this weekend and following how Bud and all the guys are doing.”
