Hard rain pummels Walker Cup site
ARDMORE, Pa. — As someone who grew up on the west coast of Scotland, I’m a bit of an expert on rain. I saw so much of it as a youngster I’m surprised I didn’t grow gills!
The rain that fell on Merion this Friday morning could have come straight from my homeland. “Torrential” is the best term for the deluge that hit Merion early this morning.
One thought struck me: how nice of the USGA to try to even up the match by providing the sort of weather the GB&I boys are used to back home. Talk about sportsmanship.
Now all we need is a bit of breeze and the GB&I boys will feel as if they are playing a home match!
