He does have a day job, no?

Going out on a limb, my guess is Minoru Hamada is not quite ready for the PGA Tour.
What’s my clue? I’ve got 91 of them, which is the number of strokes he needed to play East Valley GC in Beaumont, Calif. Now that’s better than what I shot today and it might be better than what you posted. The only thing is, we’re not trying to pass ourselves off as possible PGA Tour material, which Hamada is, given that he’s entered the annual Qualifying Tournament.
Perhaps as Exhibit A why the Tour has insisted on a pre-qualifying layer to this serious endeavor, Hamada is dead last of the 81 players who finished 18 holes. The good news is, he made one birdie and two pars. The bad news is, each of the remaining 15 holes was a bogey or worse.
He’s a whopping 27 strokes behind the first-round leader. Even worse, he’s 17 behind where the current cutoff is for low 41 and ties.
Makes us wonder: He does have a day job, no?
