A snapshot look at the players in the semifinals at the 55th USGA Senior Amateur, played Wednesday at Beverly Country Club in Chicago:
Vinny Giles, Richmond, Va., vs. John Pallin, Kenosha, Wis.
• Giles: 66 years old . . . was the runner-up at three consecutive U.S. Amateurs (1967-69) and won the Amateur in 1972 . . . Played on four U.S. Walker Cup teams between 1969-75 . . . Is a seven-time Virginia Amateur champion . . . has won the Porter Cup and Southern Amateur titles . . . lowest competitive round is 63 at the 1973 Porter Cup . . . has 17 holes-in-one, including the only one in club history at the 17th at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club . . . has made the Senior Amateur quarterfinals or beyond three consecutive years . . . founded Pros Inc., one of the prominent player management agencies.
• Pallin: 56 years old . . . is a radiologist at Kenosha Radiology Center . . . has two career double eagle . . . has won two Wisconsin State Amateurs (1975, ’78) and two Wisconsin Match Play titles (1980, ’92) . . . Is a member of the Wisconsin Golf Hall of Fame . . . was a quarterfinalist at last year’s Senior Amateur.

• Grace: 61 years old . . . . was a member of the 1975 U.S. Walker Cup team . . . finished second at the 1974 U.S. Amateur . . . has played in 19 U.S. Amateurs, 12 Mid-Amateurs and two Senior Amateurs . . . was a quarterfinalist in the 2002 Senior Amateur . . . is a reinstated amateur (2007) . . . best competitive round is 63 in the 1972 Michigan Medal Play Championship . . . has 10 career holes-in-one . . . has won the Texas Amateur twice and has finished second twice . . . has won the Texas Mid-Amateur four times . . . is a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
• Bemowski: 63 years old . . . won the 2002 U.S. Senior Amateur . . . best competitive round is 64 in the 2005 Wisconsin State Amateur . . . has won six Wisconsin State Amateurs between 1976 and 2005 . . . is a member of the Wisconsin Golf Hall of Fame.
