Q-School: Maurer wins by four shots in California

Brian Maurer easily took the top spot at the PGA Tour Q-School pre-qualifier in Seaside, Calif., with a final-round 68. Maurer, who played collegiate golf at Ball State, won by four shots with his 12-under 276.
David McKendrick finished second with his 8-under 280, and Chris Satterlee was six shots back at 2 under. Jacob Koppenberg, a former Division II All-American at Western Washington, finished tied for fourth at 1 under with Daniel Balin and Vincent Johnson. Johnson played in the Northern Trust Open in February on the inaugural Charlie Sifford exemption.
Former St. Mary’s teammates Chandler Cocco (T-16) and Mike McRae (T-23) qualifed, as did Daniel Lim (T-23), a member of Stanford’s NCAA title team in 2007.
