No bogeys for leader Uihlein

BREMERTON, Wash. – There’s a good – and simple – reason why Peter Uihlein was the leader after the first round Sunday morning at the Ping/Golfweek Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
The Oklahoma State sophomore was the only player in the starting field of 75 to play his entire round without a bogey.
Uihlein, who was 4-0 in helping lead the U.S. to victory earlier this month in the Walker Cup, had three birdies and 15 pars en route to his front-running 69, two stokes clear of Cowboy teammate Trent Whitekiller, North Carolina State’s Mitchell Sutton, and Alabama’s Bud Cauley, who also went undefeated for the U.S. at the Walker Cup.
