Lefty’s wardrobe revealed

Depending if you root for him or against him, everyone has an opinion about Phil Mickelson. No one can discount his flawless round Sunday at the Tour Championship or his charm with the galleries, but here . . . it’s all about Lefty’s wardrobe.
His shirts are a look that people either love (and want to know where they can buy them) or hate (and wouldn’t wear them if you were paid). Regardless of some extreme opinions, I’m a big fan of Phil’s look. I think it’s a great combination of classic 1970s with a cutting-edge flair. The slimmer cut, short sleeves, detailed piping and two-piece button down collar are all elements that look great, even if some people aren’t ready for it. Remember, change doesn’t come easy for everyone.
Turns out, Phil has been sporting threads that are custom made by high-end fashion designer Tom Ford. Ford gained notoriety in the fashion world when he helped to lead Gucci to a major turnaround. He now owns his own successful line, the Tom Ford label, which has menswear, beauty and men and women’s accessories.
This news might be disappointing as prices for these shirts are either a) too steep or b) not even available to average consumers. On the other hand, you probably won’t see this look swarming your run-of-the-mill golf shops.
However, the Tom Ford collection Mickelson wears resembles brands such as Ashworth, J. Lindeberg, Hugo Boss, Jack Victor and Q’aja Couture. We’ll start to see replicas of this look soon, not to mention at wallet-friendly prices!
