Greg Norman of Australia prepares to hit his 2nd shot on the 18th hole during the first round of the 2009 U.S. Senior Open at Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Greg Norman underwent a “successful” arthroscopic procedure on his right shoulder Wednesday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, according to a release on his Web site.
“It was imperative that I take care of this because it was keeping me from performing at a level that suits my standards,” Norman, captain of the International Presidents Cup team, said in the release. “The procedure will in no way impact my responsibilities at The Presidents Cup, and I very much look forward to captaining the International Team next week.”
The procedure included an arthroscopic superior labral repair and a partial rotator cuff repair and was performed by Dr. James Bradley, clinical professor of orthopedics at the University of Pittsburgh and the team orthopedic surgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 1991. It took “approximately 60 minutes.”
“Due to Greg’s high level of physical fitness and commitment to rehabilitation, we are confident he will make a speedy and full recovery,” Bradley said in the release.
Norman said he he plans to be “back in form” for the Australian Open and Shark Shootout later this year.
