Fogler (No. 77, 2011) commits to Vanderbilt
Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Ben Fogler of Elgin, S.C., has given the coaching staff at Vanderbilt a verbal commitment to play golf starting in the fall of 2011.
Fogler, who finished fifth at the Bobby Chapman Junior Invitational and recorded a pair of top-15 finishes in AJGA events last summer, said he also was considering South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina and Michigan. Fogler took unofficial visits to South Carolina, North Carolina and Michigan.
“I chose Vanderbilt because I feel that Coach Shaw and Coach Emil can really help me improve my game,” Fogler said. “I really liked the fact that I could play golf in the SEC while still going to a great academic school. Nashville is a great city. I really liked all the guys on the team.”
Fogler is the son of Eddie Fogler, who was the head men's basketball coach at Vanderbilt and then South Carolina.
