Thompson (No. 31, 2011) commits to California
Tuesday, April 6, 2010
The top-ranked player in the state of Oregon has decided to play collegiate golf at California. Morgan Thompson, No. 31 in the 2011 class, gave the Golden Bears a verbal commitment.
“I always sort of knew that I wanted to go to school in California but was never sure how things were going to play out,” said Thompson, who was runner-up at the 2009 Oregon Junior Amateur. “I chose Cal because I really clicked with both the coaches, Nancy McDaniel and Anna Temple. I also love the girls on the team, the weather, and it’s five minutes from my aunt’s house. It’s perfect.”
Thompson took unofficial visits to Oregon State and Washington and also considered the University of San Francisco before deciding on the University of California.
Recently Thompson tied for fifth at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational and posted three top 10s in AJGA events last summer.
