We’ll start talking about the golf soon
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Stepped foot onto Augusta National this morning for just the second time, but my first as a member of the working press. Initial reaction: My heart is still thumping, everyone is smiling and on my walk from the press building to the 10th tee, I found just two blades of grass out of place.
(OK . . . Just kidding about that last part. Only one blade was crooked. I quickly fluffed it up.)
The buzz this morning is still surrounding Tiger Woods, what he said, how he said it and if he can contend. By the end of the day, I have a feeling chatter will shift to the rest of the field. And I think that’s something everyone is looking forward to.
The weather here is perfect – mid 80s, no clouds, light breezes. A full slate of interviews are lined up for today including Padraig Harrington, Stewart Cink, Angel Cabrera, Phil Mickelson and Jack Nicklaus.
It’s going to be a great week at The National. Hopefully my heartbeat steadies.
