Woods or Watson? The Open champ defers
Tuesday, April 6, 2010
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Often the questions are better than the answers. Even sometimes when Stewart Cink, a thoughtful sort, is answering.
Tuesday morning at the Masters, Cink was asked if he would prefer playing with Tiger Woods or Tom Watson in the first round. More laughter than insight followed.
“Well, either way I answer that, you're going to turn that around, and it’s going to be bad,” Cink said, drawing laughs.
“Try me,” the questioner said.
“I’ll defer. I’ll play with either one of those guys. I’d play with TW any day, either one,” Cink said, drawing more laughs.
Since he didn’t answer, I’ll answer for him. He’d rather play with Watson, however uncomfortable that might be. Less fuss. After all, a couple of weeks ago Cink said he’d prefer not to play with Woods and have to deal with distractions.
