Marriott, Troon launch family programs

Doral Resort & Spa will be one of the properties participating in Marriott Golf's Family Golf Festival.

Marriott Golf plans to launch its third annual International Family Golf Festival program in May, and Troon Golf got into the act this month with its own family golf program.

The Marriott Golf program encourages parents and children to play golf together at its properties by arranging for free golf instruction, interactive golf games, and chances to win prizes. The first festival will take place May 1 at La Iguana Golf Club in Costa Rica, followed May 22 by another at Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The festivals run through Nov. 21 at various Marriott-operated courses.

After 3 p.m. year-round at Marriott-operated courses, parents and children can play for free as part of Marriott Golf’s “Kids Golf-4-Free” program, introduced in 2005. Children ages 15 and younger are eligible for free rental sets of Accu-Length clubs through the “Kids Rent-4-Free” program.

Troon’s Family Golf Program, launched this month, allows children age 15 and younger to play for free after 3 p.m. at more than 60 Troon facilities, provided they are accompanied by a paying adult. Complimentary Callaway rental clubs are provided for juniors.

The Troon program is in effect year-round at most of Troon’s U.S. facilities.

Marriott Golf manages 58 courses at 42 locations in 12 countries. Troon Golf manages courses in 31 states and 26 countries.
