UC Davis placed four players in the top 5 en route to a 19-stroke victory Tuesday at the Big West Conference Championship.

The Aggies, No. 33 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, closed with a 15-over 303 at San Luis Obispo (Calif.) Country Club to finish at 36-over 900. No. 77 Long Beach State (308) was second at 919 and No. 45 UC Irvine (313) was third at 925.

UC Davis junior Chelsea Stelzmiller beat teammate Amy Simanton, a freshman, on the third playoff hole to win the individual title. Stelzmiller, the Big West Player of the Year as a freshman, won the event for the first time in her career after tying for second last year and losing in a playoff as a freshman.

Simanton, who shot 76 in the final round, made an eagle on the par-5 first hole and played the front nine in 1 under. Stelzmiller (77) was even over her first nine holes and 5 over on the back.

Stelzmiller and Simanton finished at 8-over 224. Freshman Demi Runas was fourth at 226 and junior Alice Kim was fifth at 227.

The Aggies advanced to regional play, which begins May 6, for the second time in three years as a Division I program. Stelzmiller and Kim represented the Aggies as individuals last season.
