Detroit Mercy wins Horizon League title

Detroit Mercy shot a tournament-best 288 Tuesday en route to winning the Horizon League Conference Championship for a seventh time and earning a bid to NCAA regional play.

The Titans, No. 146 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished at 11-over 875 at Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington, Ky. No. 171 Wisconsin-Green Bay (293) was second at 881 and No. 230 Youngstown State (290) was third at 891.

Youngstown State senior Ryan Stocke made seven birdies in a closing 4-under 68 to win medalist honors at 1-under 215. UWGB’s Chat Ebert was second at 216.

Second-round leader Thomas Greene of Loyola-Chicago shot 75 and tied for third.

The Titans will make their fifth NCAA regional appearance.
