Michaels holds off Kang for Canadian Am title

Sydnee Michaels grabbed a two-shot win over Danielle Kang at the Canadian Women’s Amateur at Kingsville Golf & Country Club.

Michaels, a recent graduate of UCLA, closed with an even-par 72. Her final round started with a bump, as she made double-bogey at the par-4 third and bogey at the par-5 fourth. But Michaels played her final 10 holes in 3 under to reach 9 under for the tournament and hold off Kang, the medalist at this year’s U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur.

Kang, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., turned in three rounds of 70 (Rounds 1, 3 and 4), adding a 71 in the second round to finish at 7 under.

Sara Maude Juneau, of Fossambault, Quebec, finished in third place at 4 under, making her the low Canadian in the field.
