IOC staffer becomes head of Olympic golf

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Antony Scanlon has been appointed head of golf’s Olympic organization.

Scanlon, an Australian, has been involved with the Olympics since 1998. His job as executive director starts Nov. 1 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Golf returns to the Olympics in 2016.

The International Golf Federation announced his appointment Monday. The governing body is represented by major golf organizations around the world.
