Juliana Murcia Ortiz vs. Mia Piccio

Result: Ortiz, 3 and 2

Turning point: Ortiz built up a 5-up lead through 12 holes but started to waver, losing both the 14th and 15th. She drained a lengthy birdie putt on the 16th to close the match.

Ortiz’s best Amateur finish: debut

A word from the winner: “I was thinking (on No. 16) I needed to make that putt. I cannot let this keep going.”

Danielle Kang vs. Grace Na

Result: Kang def. Na, 2 and 1

Turning point: Kang brings match back to all square when Na misses a 2-footer for par. She took control with a par on the 10th after a Na three-putt and never let up.

Amira Alexander vs. Stacey Miller

Result: Alexander, 19 holes

Turning point: Four-up with five to play, Alexander lost three consecutive holes and headed into the 18th, 1 up. A bogey from the 16-year-old took the match into overtime. Miller’s surge ended with a three-putt on the first extra hole (No. 1).

Match result: Rohanna, 1 up

Turning point: Rohanna won the par-5 12th hole when she made an 8-footer for par and Han made bogey, giving Rohanna a boost of confidence on the greens.

Word from the winner: “It was a close match, we were both playing decent. It could go either way when we’re both just not on our game or completely off.”

Match result: Alex, 2 and 1

Turning point: Tanco was 1 down at the par-4 16th, and barely missed a birdie putt that curled around the lip.

Match result: Clanton, 1 up

Turning point: Clanton dropped a birdie putt to go 1 up heading into the long par-4 13th. Lua couldn’t catch up after another Clanton birdie at 15.

A word from the winner: “I think we both played pretty well and we both were pretty consistent in our golf and so it just ended up being an equal match.”

Match result: Carr, 20 holes

Turning point: Carr made back-to-back 5-footers for par at Nos. 17 and 18 to stay all square with Pancake and force extra holes.

Match play: Hedwall, 19 holes

Turning point: Down 2 after No. 15, Hedwall won No. 15 with a par then dropped a 15-footer at No. 17 to square the match.

A word from the winner: “I wasn’t hitting it good the front nine and then I hit a good shot on No. 12 and I kind of got the feeling back.”

Match play: Lee, 19 holes

Turning point: Lee got to 1 up on Lendl with a birdie at the 16th, but nearly missed her second shot out of thick rough at 18, briefly allowing Lendl back in.
