‘No Y.E.; you’re confused’
PGA Championship: Wednesday practice
Wisconsin’s finest fans enjoy the sights Aug. 11 at Whistling Straits.
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – With thunderstorms the main attraction on the final practice day to the 92nd PGA Championship, autograph-seekers had very few choices as they hung on the railing at the practice range.
So when they saw a warm body, they pounced.
“Mr. Y.E., Mr. Y.E., Mr. Y.E.,” they shouted in unison, excitement dripping. And why not? When you have the chance to get the defending champion’s autograph, you shout for joy.
Only thing is, the fans were mixing up their South Korean-born players.
“No Y.E.; you’re confused,” K.J. Choi said, explaining that he was not last year’s PGA Championship winner, Y.E. Yang.
Not that Choi felt slighted. Instead, he showed a graciousness to be admired and signed several autographs.
“Now you know who I am,” Choi said with a smile.
