For Bohn, daddy duties trump Wyndham

PARAMUS, N.J. – I figured there had to be a good reason why Jason Bohn skipped last week’s Wyndham Championship.

Turns out he had a once-in-a-lifetime excuse for his absence.

After all, why would he miss a tournament that’s turned into his personal annuity? He’s earned over $1.25 million in Greensboro, N.C., losing in a playoff last year at Sedgefield Country Club and finishing second in 2006 and T-3 in 2005 when the event was played at Forest Oaks Golf Club (in ’07 and ’08 he was sidelined with injuries).

So why did Bohn take off? His 5-year-old son Conor started kindergarten and dad wanted to be there to take him to school for his first day.

“Wyndham was on my schedule right until the end,” he said. “But this was a big deal. It only happens once.”

Based on the prize money, Bohn could almost say he wouldn’t miss it for a million bucks.
