Kirk leads Knoxville Open by one

Chris Kirk

Chris Kirk climbed the leaderboard at the Knoxville News Sentinel Open Saturday, carding a 9-under 63 to move from a tie for 12th to the solo lead.

Kirk had seven birdies and an eagle at Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn, to get to 15-under 201. A Knoxville native, Kirk is looking for his second win on the Nationwide Tour in 2010 after claiming the Fort Smith Classic in June.

Kirk Triplett trails Kirk by one shot after a third-round 67 left him at 14 under. Gavin Coles (64) and Travis Bertoni (65) are tied for third another shot back.

John Daly, who started the week in a tie for second place after an opening-round 67, shot back-to-back rounds of 73 and is T-63.
