Friday, December 3, 2010
Charlotte men’s golf coach Adam Pry has resigned due to personal reasons, the university announced Friday. Assistant coach Andrew DiBitetto has been named interim head coach for the 49ers and will lead Charlotte through the spring 2011 season.
“I want to thank (Director of Athletics Judy Rose), the current and former players and all the supporters of the program,” said Pry. “It’s been a great experience. I do feel at this point in time that it’s in my best interest to explore other professional opportunities.”
Pry joined Charlotte as an assistant in 2008 and took over as head coach in the spring of 2009, when he was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year after leading Charlotte to the A-10 title and a fifth straight NCAA Tournament bid. The 49ers repeated in 2010, winning a fifth straight A-10 title and earning the school’s sixth straight NCAA Tournament bid.
Pry will be reassigned temporarily within the department to handle other duties.
