Naree Song has joined the Rollins women’s coaching staff, the school announced Feb. 1.

Song, a former University of Florida and LPGA member, was low amateur at the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open as a 14-year-old. Later that year, she won the Kosaido Thailand Ladies Open as an amateur.

“Naree has a unique skill set that will really help elevate our program,” head coach Julie Garner said. “Not all great players are great teachers, but she is a natural at mentoring players at all levels. She explains the fundamentals of the game simply and completely, and has a great rapport with our team.”

The Tars begin their spring season Feb. 6-7 at the Kiawah Island Invitational. Rollins won three of four tournaments in the fall and was runner-up at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational.

Song, who has a twin sister Aree, also an LPGA pro, won the Florida High School State Championship as a sixth-grader and three AJGA invitationals. As a junior, she was invited to 12 LPGA events before graduating from high school in 2004. She earned three top-10 finishes during the fall semester of her freshman year at Florida.

Song turned professional at age 17 and won the New Innsbrook Country Club Futures Golf Classic. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
