Leave it to Adidas Golf to come up with a new and creative way to introduce its newest shoe. The next-generation Powerband 3.0 will be unveiled at this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Get this: If Kenny Perry or Pat Perez, Adidas Golf tour pros, make an ace at TPC Scottdale’s par-3 16th hole during tournament play, 10,000 registered fans will win a free pair of the Powerband shoes.

The Powerband 3.0 is the first Adidas Golf shoe to be a part of the “mi adidas” program. This program, similar to others in the industry, allows golfers to design and customize their shoes using thousands of color, text and logo options.

Adidas Golf is putting on a serious production for this introduction. During the Phoenix Open, the company will offer computer kiosks for patrons to design their own Powerband 3.0 shoes. Adidas will also host an autograph signing session with Arizona Cardinal’s head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Several Tour players are scheduled to wear the shoes, including Kenny Perry, Y.E. Yang, Pat Perez and Sean O’Hair.

The Powerband 3.0 shoes have a MSRP of $140 and are available now. The custom miPowerband 3.0 are $180 and available online at readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
