Chen (No. 3, 2011) making unofficial visits

Doris Chen, the third-ranked player in Golfweek’s Junior Rankings for the class of 2011, has started the process of making unofficial visits to colleges.

Chen already has made unofficial visits to Stanford, UCLA, USC and Florida. She plans to make a trip to Duke in March, and also wants to visit Auburn and Arizona State.

“I’m still open to everything,” Chen said of her decision.

Chen, who was a semifinalist at the 2009 U.S. Girls’ Junior and has nine top-5 finishes in AJGA events, is looking for a program that will help her game improve, and said it doesn’t matter if that means a move away from her home in Bradenton, Fla., to a school on the West Coast. So far, she’s liked all the schools she has seen, and isn’t close to making a decision.

“They’re all pretty good,” she said.
