FootJoy adds Ogilvy to its tour roster

Geoff Ogilvy starts the 2010 season flying the flag for not one, but two of Acushnet Co.’s top brands: Titleist and FootJoy.

The 14th-ranked player according to the Official World Ranking had been the face of Puma Golf, sporting the company’s apparel and footwear. But their deal expired at the end of last year, allowing for Ogilvy’s pairing with FootJoy, which was announced Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Puma has been steadily building its golf business, especially in North America, and recently added PGA Tour rookie Rickie Fowler to its tour staff.

Ogilvy – a six-time PGA Tour winner and the 2006 U.S. Open champion – also had been a marquee member of Cobra’s tour staff, which includes Camilo Villegas and J.B. Holmes. But this year, Ogilvy will serve as a Titleist ambassador. Acushnet owns both brands.

Ogilvy’s multiyear deal with FootJoy calls for him to wear the brand’s shoes and gloves.

At this week’s SBS Championship, Ogilvy will be using the following equipment: Titleist 909 D3 driver (9.5 degree); Cobra S9-1 (15 degree); Cobra S9-1 (18 degree bent to 20 degree); Titleist MB irons (3-9); Vokey Design Spin Milled pitching wedge 250.08 C-C; Vokey Design Spin Milled sand wedge C-C 55; Vokey Design Spin Milled lob wedge 60T C-C; and a Scotty Cameron prototype putter.
