Pan (No. 3, 2011) commits to Washington
Cheng-Tsung Pan, No. 3 in the Golfweek Junior Rankings for the 2011 class, has given a verbal commitment to the University of Washington. Pan, of Bradenton, Fla., made the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur; at 14, he was the youngest quarterfinalist since Bobby Jones in 1916.
In an e-mail, Pan told Golfweek that he was also considering UCLA, USC, Florida and Texas A&M before deciding on Washington.
Pan said he liked head coach Matt Thurmond and his direction of the program, and was also pleased with the convenience and quality of the golf facilities.
