Celebrating the Golden Bear’s style
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Jack Nicklaus, one of golf’s all-time greats, is celebrating another milestone this week.
Happy 70th birthday, Mr. Nicklaus!
So in light of his big day and outstanding career, let’s take a look at some of Nicklaus’ most memorable moments on the fashion front.
Nicklaus was a trendsetter in his prime. And as we know in fashion . . . what goes around comes around. That is certainly the case with the Golden Bear’s style.
We’re seeing a lot of re-invented styles today on the PGA Tour and in golf shops. Jack’s style and retro trends have now come full circle – button-down sweaters, argyle V-necks, plaid fitted pants, flap pockets and – my favorite – the knit polo style featuring tailored collars with a trimmer body. These trends are being followed by more than just some of the best-dressed PGA Tour players, too.
The Jack Nicklaus Sportswear brand is taking a slice of history and reinventing some of the classic designs and looks from the Golden Bear’s heyday.
For spring and fall 2010, Jack Nicklaus Sportswear has dedicated their brand to his iconic style. Images from his victorious days flood the 2010 Jack Nicklaus Sportswear catalogues and prove to be inspiration for various collections within their line. Shirts, shorts, vests and sweaters encompass vintage attribute while adding a modern twist.
The JNS brand is on point with its trends. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some modernized sans-a-belt and flared trousers. They can’t be far behind!
