Will scandal follow Woods to British Open?
For the first time in 11 years, Tiger Woods failed to break par in a single round at a non-major PGA Tour event. That came Thursday-Sunday at the AT&T National. Then he flew to Ireland and shot 7-over 79 Monday in the first round of the J.P. McManus Invitational Pro-Am at Adare Manor.
A 79? That sounds like more than jet lag. That sounds like scandal lag.
His poor play has come in the aftermath of tabloid reports of a divorce settlement that would cost him nine figures.
With Woods around, an Open Championship at St. Andrews used to seem like a foregone conclusion.
No more. Seems like the Old Course might have a new storyline.
