Junior diary: Gearing up for the Canon Cup

Hey y’all!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! I had a nice, relaxing, tune-up week in my little ‘ol town of Princeton.
I got home from Rolex a week ago and this week I got to go see some of my family in Indiana, practice, hang out with my friends, and sleep! The first part of the week I practiced a new chip shot my golf coach taught me at my last lesson. I also got to go play a pretty intense match with some of my golf friends in Paducah. My team won!
Junior diary
Emma Talley, 16, will file a diary each week this summer as she plays some of the premier junior events in the country.
Talley is a two-time Rolex Junior All-American and has four AJGA victories. In addition to her three wins in 2009, she posted a pair of runner-up finishes and advanced to the quarterfinals at the Polo Golf Junior Classic. She first broke 70 at the age of 11.
I worked on my new shot a lot during this time, so hopefully it will make me play a few strokes better each round. I realized that my short game is not near what it should be and my long game is pretty good. Therefore, I have been working very hard around the greens this week.
On Wednesday, after my youth group at my church, my mother and I drove to see my dad’s side of the family in Indiana. We got there around 11:30 p.m. and of course we had to chat it up with my family for a little while so we didn’t get to bed until around 12:30 a.m. I played 36 holes the next day and was exhausted because I woke up at 5:50 a.m. to make my tee time at 7 a.m. I had a wonderful time with all the people I played with.
After my round I got to go play a little basketball AND I got to go to Dairy Queen! I hadn’t been to Dairy Queen in forever because the one in our town closed.
Anyway, my mom and I drove back that night and got home around 7 p.m. I then got to go hang out with all my friends and have fun. Even though this has been a relaxing week, I have worked really hard on my game.
I have some long weeks ahead of me. I left for Alabama on Saturday, and the day after I get back I am flying to the U.S. Girls’ Junior in North Carolina. After I get back from that tournament I get to fly to Boston for the Canon Cup. I have never made Canon Cup before but I am so excited to play in it and all I have to say is GO EAST!
When I get home from Canon Cup I leave the next day to Indiana for the Jr. PGA Championship which is always a fun and exciting tournament. I am extremely excited about the next few weeks. It will be long but as you know, I have fun playing golf and being around golf people.
Also, I checked my last blog and I guess I didn’t catch my mistake but I told you that I played with Mr. Tyson…I meant to say I met Mr. Tyson. Therefore, please forgive me.
Well, next time y’all talk to me I will be home from Alabama and flying to North Carolina!
Peace, guys!
