Kaye leads Children’s Hospital Open with 62
Jonathan Kaye turned in an opening 8-under 63 to take the first-round lead at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course.
Kaye made a lone bogey – at the par-4 2nd – but offset it with seven birdies and an eagle, which came at the par-4 ninth.
Scott Brown (65) sits alone in second, one shot ahead of a four-way tie for third between Nick Flanagan, D.J. Brigman, William McGirt and Tjaart van der Walt.
Amateurs Russell Henley and John Chin lead the amateurs in the field at 3-under 68.
Henley tied with Illinois’ Scott Langley for low-amateur honors at this year’s U.S. Open. Langley, who is also in the field at Columbus, finished at 3-over 74.
