Stephen Behr, the 13th-ranked player in the 2011 class, has given a verbal commitment to play golf at Clemson.
Behr, ranked No. 27 overall in the Golfweek Junior rankings, recently advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
“I chose Clemson for a lot of different reasons,” Behr said. “It was the best fit for me because I’m good friends with the players, and the facilities are really great. Their golf program is going to be unbelievable with their new facility.
“It was perfect timing and a perfect fit.”
Behr also made visits to Furman, Wofford, South Carolina, Auburn and Wake Forest, but said he wanted to stay close to his hometown of Florence, S.C.
“My dad is a golf pro, so this way if he ever wants to come see me play or help with my swing, he can come up,” Behr said.
