Pepperdine’s Putnam wins Pacific Coast Am

Andrew Putnam won the 44th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship on Friday, closing with a 1-under 70 to win by four shots.

Putnam, a senior at Pepperdine ranked No. 71 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished at 7-under 277, four clear of Daniel Miernicki. Cameron Peck and Matthew Stieger tied for third, fifth shots back, as only six players broke par at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club.

A two-time All-America selection at Pepperdine, Putnam shot rounds of 68-69-70-70 to win the title. His brother, Michael, also won the Pacific Coast Amateur in 2004.
