Baylor frosh dunks eagle from 126 yards

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – There were three eagles made during the 15-team morning wave Tuesday in the first round of the NCAA Championship at The Honors Course.

Only one of those came at the 380-yard, par-4 12th hole.

Baylor freshman Ryan O’Rear did the honors, holing a gap-wedge shot from 126 yards. The ball never hit the ground as it sailed into the cup on the fly.

“It was pretty neat,” said O’Rear, who used that eagle and four birdies to offset a trio of bogeys and lead the Bears’ attack with a 3-under 69. “I knew it was going to be close, but when it just disappeared, well, that was cool.”
