Lodestone set to open June 5

MCHENRY, Md. – Lodestone Golf Club will open all 18 holes for play in western Maryland on June 5.
The 7,507-yard layout, designed by Hale Irwin and Todd Schoeder, is a mountain layout that sits at 2,973 feet, near Deep Creek Lake.
“We knew that Lodestone was going to be a challenge to present nature without overpowering the golf, and visa versa,” Irwin said. “We really worked extremely hard to uncover and highlight the many attributes that the site was blessed with . . . to bring out the land, bring out the natural topography, highlight the dramatic views.
“I feel we accomplished that quite nicely and that both Lodestone members and guests will find the course exciting, fun-filled and memorable. They will definitely have bragging rights over any other club in the region.”
Lodestone, which is managed by OB Sports, will be private, but will be temporarily accessible to the public through a trial-use program that includes playing privileges and access to other OB-managed properties. The trial program costs $2,000 for a single player, $3,000 for a couple and $3,600 for a family.
Elsewhere: Troon Golf added two more properties to its management portfolio: Pronghorn, a two-course facility in Bend, Ore.; and StoneRidge, a SunCor Development Co. course in Prescott, Ariz. Troon also opened the Dunes Course at Costa Navarino, a resort in Messinia, Greece. . . . Pound Ridge (N.Y.) Golf Club has begun offering travel packages in conjunction with the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Peak green fees are $235.
